Anyone who has witnessed this remarkable behavior is amazed to see how the birds stretch out and raise their feathers to let the hot summer sun reach their bodies. They often lean over in a kind of dazed ecstasy while they’re doing this, and capturing them in the act with our cameras often reveals what I call “Bird Fur”.
We have a separate Sunning Gallery with a collection of various songbird species all enjoying the sunshine in this special way.
